Christmas with a Cause: Purposeful Shopping @ Tiny Hands International in Lincoln, NE

One of my very favorite organizations makes a huge impact  halfway around the world despite being based in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Tiny Hands International is helping make a difference in the lives of women and children in Nepal, India, Bangladesh  and beyond.   I  happen to know many of the people directly involved in this ministry, and I am grateful to see all that they do to make a positive difference.

For the next three days, you have the opportunity to support their efforts AND to get some of your Christmas shopping done.  Here is a paragraph directly from their Facebook page explaining “Products with a Purpose.”

Singing Christmas Tree in Grand Island

I was a bit rushed the other day and missed mentioning what is the longest running annual Christmas concert in Nebraska.  The “Singing Christmas Tree” at the Grand Island Evangelical Free Church will be taking place the next three week-ends.   This is their 40th year!   Suggested donation for the concert is $7, and you can purchase your tickets online.  Or you can also arrange to pick them up in person or through the mail.  Several of the performances are already sold out.  (Note: this is more of an experience for adults and for older children who are school age and above.)

Now just in case a vision of a large dancing Christmas tree is in your head, it is not quite like that.

As this photo from their website illustrates, the singers perform on risers that are in the shape of a Christmas Tree.  There is also a live animal nativity.  I remember going to this with my family when I was younger – a wonderful Christmas event.  So, if you will be in the Grand Island area sometime during the next three week-ends, this is an event that you won’t want to miss!

Christmas Celebrations Across Nebraska

With Thanksgiving happening the 28th, the latest possible date for that holiday, Christmas is going to sneak upon us rather quickly this year!  One of our family celebrations will be happening in just 2 weeks.  I know this December is going to go even quicker than ever.

Christmas G

December always seems to be a packed month.  On this blog, I am planning on sharing several fun family options and experiences that you can have throughout this season.  But because I do not want to completely overwhelm your inbox, I hope to post even more on my Odyssey Through Nebraska Facebook page.  This way I can share different event possibilities more frequently.  So, if you are not a Facebook fan, today is great day to become one, especially if you are actually from Nebraska.  And since I cannot possibly keep up with every activity, I am hoping that many of you will also share the happenings in your area.  (Please keep them to Nebraska events only though!)   Hopefully this season will not be one of busyness for you but will instead be one full of meaningful celebrations!
